Science Notebooking

Wow! I can’t believe how little time I have this year.  I have so many things to share.  First I would like to share some of my student’s work that they have done in their Interactive Science Notebook.  There are so many great sites out there on notebooking.  Not only am I new to this notebooking, but we got new Science books this year too.  (Another reason I’m a little overwhelmed)

  1. I also started notebooking in science this year, but your students' notebooks look so much nicer than mine!! I really do enjoy it and they are a great portfolio of work for conference time, but a pain to grade. If you have time, I'd love to hear your method to grade them. I teach 3 classes of 6th graders, so grading 75 each week is exhausting!

  2. Caught in the Middle...
Thanks! Honestly I took pictures of my best ones. I have some more to upload. However my computer just died today:( so it may have to wait as I'm borrowing my daughter's now. As for grading, I don't grade them every week. I collect at the end of the chapter. I do walk around and check them after giving them as an assignment to make sure they are keeping them up to date. I learned the hard way on the first chapter. If they get behind I keep them in for lunch detention or after school on Tuesdays to get caught up. I have a little rubric I follow and tape into the cover of their notebook (which helps next time I collect).

    1. Do you have a copy of the rubric you use to grade?
